Storm Clean Up Continues

Council received around 1500 Customer Service reports after the 13 February storm and approximately 85 per cent of these requests have been completed.

It is estimated, a quarter of Council's street and park trees (about 20,000 to 25,000 trees) were damaged or impacted by the storm. Over the past few weeks our response has shifted from managing risk to a proactive approach, with five tree contractors now working systematically across the city collecting and chipping fallen branches.

We currently have a growing back log of non-storm related tree request which have been placed on hold whilst we focus on the storm response.

These requests will be prioritised based on risk and it is estimated non-urgent requests may take 8-12 weeks to inspect and complete. We anticipate a return to standard service response times by July-August. These timelines demonstrate the severe and lasting impacts of a major storm on Council's Urban Forest.
