Biodiversity - Nature and Wildlife

Nature and Wildlife

Biodiversity is the variety of all living things; the different plants, animals and micro organisms, and the ecosystems they form. Indigenous vegetation is very fragmented in urban areas.

The Parks team manages our bushland reserves and open spaces to control weeds and support regeneration as these areas contribute to our biodiversity. However, we all have a responsibility to care for our local bushland and to contribute to growing biodiversity in our own backyards. There are many ways to get involved – attend a community planting day or environmental event or download our Growing Biodiversity booklet to learn more about what you can do to increase biodiversity.
